Sogard will get the call to join Boston’s active roster for Wednesday’s series finale against the Rays with Alex Bregman going on paternity leave.

Sogard was one of the Red Sox’ final cuts this spring as they finalize their season-opening roster. The 27-year-old infielder will function as emergency depth for Boston at Triple-A Worcester, but it will likely be top prospect Marcelo Mayer coming up in virtually any other scenario involving an injury to Trevor Story or Kristian Campbell.
