Fletcher passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week by the White Sox. The 27-year-old outfielder will stick around as extra organizational depth since he doesn’t have the option to elect free agency.

At one point, Fletcher was through to be a contender to start in the outfield for the White Sox, but he lost out to veterans like Travis Jankowski and Austin Slater.

Fletcher struggled in the Cactus League, and wasn’t a great bet for the roster even with the Andrew Benintendi (hand) injury. Fletcher will likely be up-and-down throughout 2025.

The door is wide open for Fletcher to claim a spot in the White Sox outfield, but he’s just 4-for-30 this spring after hitting a miserable .206/.252/.256 in 241 major league plate appearances last season. He might be on his way to losing his spot on the 40-man.
