Oswald Peraza is making his first start against a right-hander in Monday’s game against the Royals.
Oswaldo Cabrera had started at third base every time the Yankees had faced a righty, but Peraza, who has picked up four starts against lefties, is the choice versus Michael Wacha tonight. Cabrera has been adequate in hitting .278/.333/.278 to date, but that’s mostly all he’s ever been. It wouldn’t hurt the Yankees to give Peraza a little look here before DJ LeMahieu returns to further muddle the situation.
Oswald Peraza, who went 2-for-4 with a double in his first start of the year Saturday, is back in the Yankees lineup on Sunday.
Peraza is playing over Oswaldo Cabrera and Pablo Reyes at third base against a second straight lefty today. The 24-year-old didn’t impress this spring and, being out of options, might have gone on waivers if DJ LeMahieu hadn’t gotten hurt. However, he’s managed to go 3-for-6 with a homer in his very limited action thus far.
Yankees optioned INF Oswald Peraza to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Our expectation was that the Yankees would choose to roll with Peraza against left-handers moving forward at the hot corner, but it sounds like Jazz Chisholm Jr. (elbow) is going to be activated on Friday after making a miraculous recovery from a UCL sprain in his non-throwing elbow.
Oswald Peraza crushed his first home run of the season on Friday night as the Yankees triumphed over the Tigers.
The 24-year-old infielder tagged left-hander Brant Hurter for his 398-foot (105.1-mph EV) solo shot off of a first-pitch sweeper in the fifth inning. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the night. Peraza should continue to see action at third base while Jazz Chisholm Jr. (elbow) is sidelined, but won’t hold any fantasy value once he returns next week.
