Logan O’Hoppe went 2-for-4 and belted his ninth home run of the season on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the Angels past the Tigers.
The hard-hitting backstop opened the scoring in the ballgame in the second inning with a 408-foot (102.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Casey Mize. He also led off the fourth inning with a single but was ultimately erased on a double play. The 25-year-old has been outstanding to start the 2025 season, slashing .280/.309/.581 with nine homers and 15 RBI.

After drawing a walk in the second inning, O’Hoppe put the Angels on the board with a solo homer off Carlos Vargas to lead off the seventh. While the 25-year-old backstop has struggled with strikeouts, he’s been able to hit for power with three homers in five games and eight on the season. He’s slashing .259/.292/.553 with 13 RBI across 89 plate appearances.

O’Hoppe tagged Louis Varland for a 412-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning that pulled the Angels to within six runs at 9-3. That would be his only hit in the ballgame. He’s off to a terrific start at the plate once again this season, slashing .280/.299/.573 with seven long balls and 12 RBI.
Logan O’Hoppe went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts on Friday against the Giants.
O’Hoppe returned to Los Angeles’ lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Rangers following a three-game absence dating back to last weekend due to an unspecified illness. The positive news for fantasy managers is that he’s feeling better and back handling the catching duties.
