2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: The Arizona Diamondbacks and fantasy baseball managers alike should be thrilled with what they saw from Moreno in 2023. Across 111 games he slashed .284/.339/.408 with seven home runs, 50 RBI, six stolen bases and a 1.7 WAR. He provided above-average defense behind the dish, and despite having just 73 MLB plate appearances prior to last season, his walk and strikeout rates were right in line with numbers he posted throughout his time in the minors. Albeit a lower barrel rate (4.8%), he posted a 41.8 percent hard hit rate, and an 81.7 percent contact rate, which is quite good for a young catcher.
2024 Outlook: Tucker Barnhart provides minimal competition behind the dish for Moreno, and we could see a breakout from Moreno in his age 24 season. I'm confident he can get to 12-15 home runs this season, and if he can get to 8-10 stolen bases with a .275 average, that would be an exceptional season for someone going outside the top eight to 10 at the position. In terms of pure value and expected ROI, Moreno is one of the best options behind the dish this year.
