2025 Player Outlook
Moreno has improved his walk rate in each of the last two seasons, posting a very healthy 11.7 percent mark last season. His strikeout rate also checked in at an impressive 14.8 percent, giving him a strong base of plate skills from which to grow his offensive production. The power has yet to show up, but Moreno may grow into a bit more as he enters his age 25 season.
Player News
Gabriel Moreno finished 2-for-3 with a homer against the Dodgers on Monday.
Moreno’s hits both left the bat at 108 mph. He’s a little underrated as a late-round option in the catcher spot in mixed leagues. He definitely doesn’t offer as much power potential as some, but he’s a .280 hitter through 233 big-league games and he’s hitting in one of the game’s most productive lineups, giving him extra run and RBI potential.
Gabriel Moreno clobbered a 456-foot three-run homer on Wednesday against the Giants.
Persistent health issues have prevented Moreno from reaching his lofty fantasy ceiling over the past few years, but his talent remains undeniable. The 25-year-old backstop represents a borderline top-15 option at catcher for fantasy purposes, which makes him a fringe mixed-league option, but one of the better second catchers out there.
Gabriel Moreno went 0-for-3 in his return to Arizona’s lineup Tuesday.
Moreno sat out just one game after tweaking his adductor muscle. He missed 5 1/2 weeks after his original strain suffered last month.
Gabriel Moreno said his MRI on his injured adductor came back clean and that might be able to rejoin Arizona’s lineup as soon as Tuesday.
Great news. Moreno had a setback Sunday with the strained adductor he suffered last month. Jose Herrera is starting in his place tonight. Adrian Del Castillo could be recalled with Moreno limited, but someone would need to go on the IL to make room.
