Christian Koss’s first major leaguer homer was a grand slam off Brandon Pfaadt in Tuesday’s win over the D-backs.
Koss took an inside breaking ball just over the wall in left to homer in his 56th plate appearance as a major leaguer. He’s batting .241/.293/.296 while filling in at second base with Tyler Fitzgerald and Casey Schmidt on the shelf. With both of those guys currently on rehab assignments, it’s possible Koss will be sent back to Triple-A soon.
Christian Koss is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Giants on Wednesday against the Cubs.
After Koss was on the bench on Tuesday, he’ll be right back in the lineup on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has gone 7-for-37 so far this season with 11 strikeouts and is not an option in fantasy leagues.
Christian Koss hit two homers, including a walkoff blast in the bottom of the ninth, to give the Red Sox a 7-6 win over the Rays on Friday.
The Red Sox actually got three homers out of that spot in the order, as Bobby Dalbec had one before Koss took over. The 24-year-old Koss was picked up from the Rockies for Yoan Aybar prior to last season, and he hit .271/.325/.451 for high-A Greenville in his first year in the system. He should move up to Double-A this season. He's not viewed as a potential regular, but if he can get the OBP up some and hit 20 homers, he could be taken more seriously.
Red Sox acquired INF Christian Koss from the Rockies in exchange for LHP Yoan Aybar.
Koss, 23 in January, was a 12th round pick by the Rockies out of UC Riverside, and he performed well in the Pioneer League with .332/.447/.605 line along with 11 homers and 10 steals over 53 games for short-season Grand Junction.
