Alex Vesia worked a scoreless ninth to pick up a save Wednesday against the Cubs in the Tokyo Series.
Dodgers and LHP Alex Vesia avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.3MM deal with a club option for the 2026 season.
Vesia was the only Dodger who hadn’t agreed to terms, so they won’t have anyone head to arbitration this winter. The left-hander will be a mid-to-late inning arm for Los Angeles again in 2025 in their quest to win back-to-back championships.
Alex Vesia will likely be left off the NLCS roster because of his intercostal injury.
Vesia was hurt during Game 5 on Friday. Tony Gonsolin and Brent Honeywell are candidates to replace him on the Dodgers roster. It’s also possible the Dodgers could carry both and drop another reliever.
Alex Vesia picked up his fifth save of the season on Saturday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run lead against the Brewers.
The Dodgers deployed Evan Phillips in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Brewers’ lineup with a one-run lead, and he served up a game-tying homer to Christian Yelich. The Dodgers answered right back with a pair of runs of their own though and Vesia came on to make sure that it stood up. He got Rhys Hoskins on a swinging third strike, Blake Perkins on foul out to first and Andruw Monasterio on a fly ball to left to end it. He has now converted five saves while registering a stellar 1.36 ERA in 39 2/3 innings.
