Burdick got into 46 contests for the Marlins from 2022-2023, batting .200/.281/.368 with five homers and two steals in 139 plate appearances. The 27-year-old outfielder, who spent all of last season at the Triple-A level between the Reds and Orioles, has likely been cut loose to pursue an opportunity overseas.

Burdick went unclaimed after being placed on the waiver wire. The outfielder will provide outfield depth in the minors for the remainder of 2024.

Burdick was hitting just .190/.298/.361 in 43 games for Triple-A Louisville after opening the season with the Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate and hitting .182/.333/.455 there. He still has impressive power, but it doesn’t look like it’ll ever make up for his contact issues.

The 27-year-old outfielder was waived by Baltimore on Monday and now heads to Cincinnati’s organization where he’ll continue to develop at the Triple-A level.
