Athletics’ INF prospect Darell Hernaiz went 2-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored in Tuesday’s game for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Hernaiz has had a strong start to the season, going 6-for-15 (.400) with one home run, six runs scored, four RBI, and a 5/1 BB/K ratio in four games. It’s noteworthy only because the Athletics are playing him at second base, which is where Max Muncy is playing with the big league club. With Muncy off to a slow start, it’s worth keeping an eye on Hernaiz’s performance over the next few weeks.
Athletics optioned INF Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The move makes room for Jacob Wilson, who is returning Tuesday. Hernaiz had been playing over Abraham Toro at third base, but the A’s weren’t willing to cut Toro just yet. Max Schuemann figures to get much of the time at third with Wilson playing shortstop.
Athletics activated INF Darrel Hernaiz from the 60-day injured list.
The 22-year-old infielder has been sidelined since early May due to a severe left ankle sprain. He’s back with the A’s though and will be in uniform for Friday’s series opener against the Dodgers. He’ll take the spot of Brett Harris on the A’s active roster after Harris was optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Athletics transferred INF Darell Hernaiz from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.
That must be a pretty bad ankle sprain that Hernaiz suffered last week. The A’s are currently rolling with Max Schuemann as their everyday shortstop.
