Tigers optioned INF/OF Ryan Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo.
Kreidler, who was seeing a lot of time in center initially, went just 4-for-38 with 19 strikeouts and no extra-base hits in 17 games. That gives him a career line of .138/.208/.176 in 211 plate appearances. The versatile defense is great, but he’s just not a major leaguer.
Tigers recalled INF/OF Ryan Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo.
That outfielder designation for Kreidler is important, as he will be the team’s starting center fielder on Opening Day against the Dodgers on Thursday despite logging all of three innings at the position in his big league career. Even if he does see strong side platoon at-bats there, Kreidler is unlikely to produce enough to gain relevancy from a fantasy perspective.

With Wenceel Pérez back from the IL, Kreidler will be sent back to the minors where he’ll serve as organizational depth.
Tigers recalled INF Ryan Kriedler from Triple-A Toledo.
With Javier Baez landing on the injured list with an undisclosed injury, Kriedler will have another opportunity to show what he can do at the big-league level. The 26-year-old has hit just .136/.208/.205 with a homer, two RBI and a 15/4 K/BB ratio in 48 plate appearances with the Tigers this season. He should primarily be used against left-handed pitching and as a late-game defensive replacement with Trey Sweeney continuing to see the bulk of the action at shortstop for the Tigers.
