Mets released OF Jaylin Davis.
Davis inked a minor league contract with the Mets back in February and didn’t end up making an appearance for New York in the majors. The 29-year-old outfielder got into 12 contests last year for the Red Sox and profiles as a reserve outfielder at this stage of his career.
Mets signed OF Jaylin Davis to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Davis spent the 2022 season in the Red Sox organization where he struggled to a .203/.312/.334 slash with seven homers at Triple-A Worcester. Heâ??ll add outfield depth in the upper minors for the Mets.
Jaylin Davis has elected free agency.
The 28-year-old slashed .333/.407/.375 with two RBI across 27 plate appearances for the Boston Red Sox. His time in the majors was limited as the Red Sox were fighting for a wild card spot into the second half of the season. While in Triple-A Worcester, Davis hit .203/.312/.334 with seven homers. He'll head into free agency and should be able to sign a minor league deal with a team this offseason.
Red Sox sent OF Jaylin Davis outright to Triple-A Worcester.
Davis was designated for assignment on Monday and ultimately passed through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old outfielder is a career .207/.274/.299 hitter in 95 total plate appearances at the MLB level.
