Reds optioned INF Rece Hinds, INF Noelvi Marte, IF/OF Tyler Calihan, RHP Connor Phillips and RHP Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville and reassigned INF Sal Stewart to minor league camp.

Hinds and Marte are the two biggest names on the list, as they both have seen time with the Reds and have the potential to be long-term options. They can safely be ignored in all but keeper/dynasty formats for the 2025 campaign.

Reds recalled OF Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville.

A fantasy darling back in mid-July, Hinds was batting .500 (11-for-22) with five homers in his first six contests in the big leagues before hitting .063 (1-for-16) over his next four contests to earn a trip back to the minors. The 23-year-old is the textbook definition of elite raw power, but his persistent contact issues might be enough to prevent him from ever making it at the highest level as an everyday player.

Rece Hinds went 0-for-4 for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday and is hitting .167/.280/.262 in 12 games since being demoted by the Reds.

Anyone hoping Hinds would force the Reds to quickly recall him and give him a longer look in the majors appears likely to be disappointed. At least he still has his 1.218 major league OPS.

Reds optioned OF Rece Hinds to Triple-A Louisville.

The NL Player of the Week two weeks ago, Hinds is now heading back to the minors as the corresponding move for the Reds activating TJ Friedl. Hinds began his MLB career 11-for-22 in his first six games, but was just 1-for-16 in his last four games. In total, he struck out 12 times and walked only once. The Reds will probably give Hinds another chance later this year.
