2025 Player Outlook
CJ Abrams is expected to take another step forward in 2025, building on his breakout 2024 season where he showcased elite speed and improving power. As a top-of-the-order threat for the Nationals, Abrams' stolen base potential makes him a game-changer in fantasy leagues, with the ability to surpass 50 steals if his on-base skills continue to develop. His improving plate discipline and contact rate suggest he could also boost his batting average, that combined with his speed make Abrams a prime candidate for a mid-round breakout season.
Player News
CJ Abrams finished 4-for-5 with a triple and a double against the Phillies on Tuesday.
Abrams 17/3 K/BB in 73 plate appearances isn’t what anyone is looking for from a leadoff man, but he’s batting .279 and slugging .559 to date. He has a 43% hard-hit rate, and he collected his seventh barrel on the triple tonight.
CJ Abrams went 1-for-5 with a game-tying single in a win over the Mets on Sunday.
Abrams struck out three times and did not have a great game overall, but he laced a game-tying single off of Ryne Stanek in the bottom of the ninth inning and then came around to score on a throwing error by Pete Alonso later in the inning. Abrams has gotten off to a slow start to the season while battling a hip injury, but he should right the ship here soon.
CJ Abrams went 2-for-5 with a triple, a RBI, stolen base, and scored the winning run in a dramatic 5-4 win over the Mets on Friday.
Abrams made his presence known fresh off his return from a hip injury. He hit a run-scoring triple early that was just a few feet shy of clearing the fence and then came around to score the walk-off run on a ground ball by James Wood that barely left the infield. Abrams was running on the pitch, but he genuinely flew around the bases and barely beat the tag at home plate. He runs like a gazelle when he gets going and few players in the league are more dynamic than Abrams when he’s playing well.
Nationals activated INF CJ Abrams off the 10-day injured list.
Abrams ended up missing a little under two weeks while recovering from the flexor strain. The 24-year-old should return to hitting at the top of the Washington order now that he’s back in action. His power/speed combo remains enticing, even if there are flaws that will frustrate fantasy managers during the 2025 campaign and likely beyond.
