Kameron Misner homered twice on Monday in a blowout win over the Red Sox.
Misner took Red Sox starter Tanner Houck deep in the second inning before capping off his first multi-homer effort with an eighth-inning blast against lefty reliever Brennan Bernardino. The unheralded 27-year-old rookie has been quite the find for Tampa Bay, hitting .400 (16-for-40) with three homers and one steal in 14 games. He’s at least worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper mixed leagues.
Kameron Misner went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored on Friday night as the Rays topped the Braves.
Misner smacked a two-out double off of Bryce Elder in the second inning but wound up stranded at second base. He then reached on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and rode home on a two-run blast by Danny Jansen. Misner also singled in the sixth, swiped second base and scored on an RBI single by Jansen. With his two-hit attack, the 27-year-old outfielder is now slashing .387/.429/.677 with a homer, six RBI and a stolen base in his first 31 at-bats with the Rays.
Kameron Misner is starting in center field and batting sixth for the Rays on Thursday against the Angels.
Misner was on the bench Wednesday against a lefty, and it’s clear that the Rays are going to platoon him, most likely with Jose Caballero, in the immediate future. Misner is a former first-round pick who has demonstrated quicker bat speed this season, which has led to improved exit velocities. He is worth a gamble in most formats due to his power/speed upside, but the batting average will likely come down.
Kameron Misner went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Friday against the Rangers.
The Rays’ offense did very little damage in this one. They were stymied by Rangers’ starter Tyler Mahle and scored both of their runs on wild pitches from reliever Shawn Armstrong. Misner did put them in position for both of those runs though, doubling Christopher Morel to third base before they each scampered home. The 27-year-old rookie has been impressive as the Rays’ outfield depth has been tested early and exhibited a legitimate power, speed combo in the upper minors. However, he’s had consistent strikeout issues as well and is yet to draw a walk this season. Keep an eye on him in deeper leagues, just set realistic expectations when doing so.
