2024 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Volpe delivered on a highly anticipated rookie season by hitting 21 home runs and stealing 24 bases and winning a Gold Glove, however breaking and off-speed pitches were a real drag on his batting average (.209 overall). Unfortunately, an uptick in his strikeout rate that began once he was promoted to Triple-A (30.3%) continued to be an issue in his big-league debut season (27.8%) with the majority of those whiffs coming against the previously mentioned breaking and off-speed stuff. 

2024 Outlook: Most projection models predict that Volpe can produce another 20 HR/20 SB season but there’s still too much batting average risk in his profile to make him a slam dunk fantasy option in 2024. If you do roster him, make sure you’ve built a fantasy team with enough batting average upside so that you can absorb his potentially low batting average.
