2025 Player Outlook
Greene missed some time with a hamstring injury in the summer months, but across 137 games in 2024, Greene slashed .262/.348/.479 with 24 home runs and four stolen bases. The hope is that in 2025 he runs closer to the clip he did in 2023, and I will mention that he attempted just one stolen base after his return from his hamstring injury. The rising star makes a ton of hard contact, and he lofted the ball more in 2024, leading to the spike in power production. I expect his stolen base number to be in the 6-10 range, and there's a clear path for Greene to exceed 25 home runs this season. A true breakout season for Greene would look like 25+ home runs, 10 stolen bases, and a .275 batting average, which would make for one heck of a value at his ADP.
Player News
Riley Greene went 2-for-3, drew a walk, drove in a run and scored twice as the Tigers triumphed over the Royals on Friday night.
Greene smacked an RBI single off of Cole Ragans in the fifth inning that increased the Tigers’ lead to 3-1 then came around to score as Spencer Torkelson bounced into a double play. He then reached on a two-out single in the seventh inning and scored on Torkelson’s two-run double. With his two-hit night, Greene has pushed his season slash up to .250/.288/.421 to go along with three home runs and eight RBI.
Riley Greene went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs on Thursday night, leading the Tigers to a 6-1 victory over the Royals in the opener of their four-game series at Comerica Park.
Greene entered play on Thursday slashing a woeful .206/.239/.397 on the season. He went to work on improving that in the third inning as he plated Spencer Torkelson with an RBI single. The 24-year-old outfielder delivered another run-scoring single in the fifth inning, extending the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. He also reached on an infield single in the seventh. With the three-hit attack, Greene is now slashing .233/.263/.411 to go along with three homers, seven RBI and a 30/3 K/BB ratio through his first 74 plate appearances.
The slumping Riley Greene went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Brewers on Wednesday.
It’s a fifth straight hitless game for Greene, who grounded out and popped out weakly in his non-strikeout at-bats today. Greene had a 1.071 OPS as of 10 days ago, and he’ll surely pull out of this soon enough. Still, he’s all of the way down to .206/.239/.397 for the season now, and his 30 strikeouts is the highest total in the league.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Brewers.
Greene has been struggling recently, going 1-for-24 with 14 strikeouts over his last seven games. Obviously fantasy managers shouldn’t be concerned with such an extremely small sample size. However, it partially explains why he’s getting a day off to reset mentally with lefty Tyler Anderson on the mound for Milwaukee.
