Cardinals acquired INF Michael Helman from the Twins for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old infielder got his first shot at the big league level in 2024, going 3-for-10 (.300) with a pair of doubles and two runs scored in his limited action with the Twins. He also slashed an impressive .271/.350/.487 with 14 long balls, 47 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 314 plate appearances at Triple-A St. Paul, which seems to have been enough to get the Cardinals’ attention. He’ll add infield depth for the Cardinals.
Twins recalled INF Michael Helman from Triple-A St. Paul.
Helman is being added to the roster as infield depth with Jose Miranda going on the injured list. He was 3-for-8 with no home runs and no RBI with Minnesota earlier this year.
Twins optioned INF/OF Michael Helman to Triple-A St. Paul.
Called up to the majors for the first time at age 28, Helman went 3-for-8 with a couple of doubles during his 10 days with the Twins.
Michael Helman is playing right field and hitting ninth against the Rays on Tuesday.
Helman is going to make his MLB debut against Jeffrey Springs and Tampa Bay. The 28-year-old hit well in his time with St. Paul, and he could be the favorite for playing time against southpaws with Manuel Margot on the injured list. In a platoon role, there isn’t much redraft value here, but he’s at least worth keeping an eye on.
