2025 Player Outlook

Vierling had a career year in his second year with the Tigers, slashing .257/.312/.423 with 16 home runs, 28 doubles, 80 runs scored, 57 RBI, and six stolen bases. He's now swiped at least six bags in three straight seasons, and he has back-to-back campaigns as a member of the 10/5 club with a .257 or better batting average. He enjoyed a career best barrel rate last season, and he continues to do a great job of getting the bat on the ball. He'll have 3B/OF eligibility in most leagues, and perhaps 1B depending on your league's/site's rules, but it's very possible we've seen pretty close to Vierling's ceiling as an MLB hitter. He's locked into an everyday for the Tigers and put up similar numbers to the last two seasons. Think a .250ish average with 12-16 home runs and 5-8 stolen bases.

The versatile 28-year-old met up with the Mudhens on Friday in Worcester and will work out with the club for a couple of days before serving as the designated hitter in Sunday’s game. He’s going to need plenty of at-bats on his rehab assignment, but as long as everything goes according to plan he should be back with the Tigers before the month of May is through.

Vierling remains in no-throw mode as he continues to work his way back from a right shoulder strain. He’s been hitting in the cage, but remains limited from a baseball activity standpoint. It’s possible he’ll be ready to rejoin Detroit’s lineup by the end of April, but that’s not a guarantee.

Vierling has been working his way back from a rotator cuff injury for a few weeks now, but has not yet begun swinging a bat. Once he can cross that off the list, he should head out on a rehab assignment and could be back in the Tigers’ lineup by the end of April.
