2025 Player Outlook
Nobody will deny the talent with Brown, but health has been a major factor for Brown thus far in his career. He only has one season where he logged 100+ innings in his career, and at this point, Brown in any capacity is better for the Cubs than Brown being injured. What I’m getting at is that Brown could be moved to the bullpen, which would hurt his overall fantasy value. Brown possesses excellent strikeout potential, but whether he serves as a swing guy or perhaps even full time out of the pen, he’s likely capped at 80-100 IP, and that’s if he can stay healthy. Keep an eye on him in spring training to see how he looks, and for any updates about his role.

Ben Brown needed 100 pitches to throw four innings of one-run ball Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Brown certainly has the stuff to start, but the efficiency to give a team the kind of length it would prefer eludes him. He allowed three hits, walked four and struck out six before coming out with the Cubs up 6-1 today. With a more reasonable pitch count, he probably would have had an easy victory. Brown is due to face the Phillies next weekend.
Ben Brown blanked the Dodgers over six innings while striking out five to get a win in the Cubs’ win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Impressive, even before you consider the quality of opponent. Brown was “only” able to get nine swings and misses over 84 pitches, but he was still able to accumulate the five punchouts while scattering five hits. It’s easily his best start of the year, and a reminder that Brown was once considered one of the better pitching prospects in baseball. He’ll try and build on this effort and continue to lower his 5.09 ERA against the Diamondbacks next weekend.
Ben Brown allowed five runs in four innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Padres.
Brown gave up three runs in the first, only to see the Cubs come back with seven runs over the next two innings. Still, it wasn’t enough to get Brown a win. He allowed seven hits and walked four before being lifted. It won’t get any easier for him next time out against the Dodgers.
Ben Brown worked five innings while allowing three runs and picking up a win Monday over the Athletics.
