White Sox placed LHP Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day injured list.
Scholtens underwent Tommy john surgery last March, and the 30-year-old southpaw won’t be ready to pitch at the start of the season. This designation will keep him out until the end of May.
The White Sox placed Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day IL with a torn UCL.
Scholtens will have Tommy John surgery on Friday. The decision allows newly acquired LHP Bailey Horn to get on the 40-man roster. Scholtens appeared in 26 games (11 starts) for the White Sox last season and posted a 5.29 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 58/30 K/BB ratio. He was placed on the injured list toward the end of the season with a calf strain but this new elbow injury ultimately will keep him on the sidelines until 2025.
White Sox placed RHP Jesse Scholtens on the 15-day injured list with a left calf strain.
The injury effectively ends the 29-year-old’s rookie campaign. The right-hander posted a 5.2 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 58/30 K/BB ratio while registering a 1-9 record over 85 innings. He will likely start next season in Chicago’s rotation.
Jesse Scholtens threw four innings and allowed six runs — five earned — in a loss to the Twins on Friday.
Scholtens earned this one, though he doesn’t deserve to be 0-7 since the beginning of July. He’s given up 13 earned runs in 12 2/3 innings this month, taking his ERA from 3.97 to 4.77. He’ll probably finish up in the White Sox rotation anyway.
