Diamondbacks activated SS Blaze Alexander from the 10-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Reno.
Alexander will remain stationed at Triple-A Reno as extra organizational infield depth after wrapping up a minor league rehab assignment. There isn’t much of a role for him at the highest level right now, especially with top prospect Jordan Lawlar also pushing for a promotion.
Blaze Alexander (oblique) went 3-for-5 with two RBI on Saturday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Reno.
Alexander has gotten a handful of rehab contests under his belt already and figures to be ready to rejoin Arizona’s infield mix at some point next week, if not sooner.
Blaze Alexander (oblique) will start a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Reno.
Alexander opened the regular season on the shelf recovering from a Grade 1 right oblique strain. The 25-year-old should only need a handful of games before he’s ready to rejoin Arizona’s injury-depleted infield mix.
Diamondbacks placed INF Blaze Alexander on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 24, with a right oblique strain.
Alexander, who was to vie for a utility role, missed essentially the entire spring, so he’ll be due a few weeks in Triple-A before he’s a candidate for the Diamondbacks roster. He might be optioned out once healthy.
