The 28-year-old struck out two and walked one after coming in relief in the fourth inning. Ivey has only made one start in Triple-A so far, but last night’s outing shows that he’s already built up enough to throw 70 pitches in an outing. He has allowed just three runs (two earned) on seven hits in 13 1/3 innings this season with 11 strikeouts and six walks. Lance McCullers is returning to the Houston rotation soon, but should there be any roadblock in his recovery, Ivey could be an option if Ryan Gusto struggles as a spot starter for the Astros.

Ivey was designated for assignment earlier in the week to clear a spot on the Astros 40-man roster. He passed through waivers unclaimed though and will remain in the organization as pitching depth.
