King successfully transitioned to full-time starting pitcher after pitching mostly out of the Yankees bullpen over the previous four seasons. He delivered 173.2 innings over 30 starts, posting a 2.95 ERA and 27.7 percent strikeout rate. His filthy change-up induced an elite 36.2 percent whiff rate and helped him neutralize both sides of the plate. He is locked into a rotation spot for the playoff-hopeful Padres.
