2025 Player Outlook

Marte’s beginning to the 2024 season was about as bad as it could get, but he rebounded slightly near the end of the year. It was still a disappointing year for Marte, and with the current logjam in the Cincinnati infield, there’s a real chance he opens the year in the minors. In fact, it’s looking likely that he begins the year in the minors as the team is likely to give Jeimer Candelario the job at the hot corner. Should he get called up, or maybe wins the job out of camp, the 23-year-old still has plenty of potential, but expectations are certainly not as high as 2024, and I don't love the price inside the top 250 players.

Noelvi Marte scalded a go-ahead RBI triple on Monday, powering the Reds to a 3-1 victory over the division-rival Cardinals.

Marte put Cincinnati ahead for good with a run-scoring triple to 101-mph triple into the left-center field gap that brought Gavin Lux around to score all the way from first base. The 23-year-old former top prospect appears to be putting together a legitimate breakthrough campaign this season, hitting .370 (17-for-46) with three homers, 16 RBI and four steals in 13 games since returning to the majors back in mid-April. He’s worthy of a roster spot in all fantasy formats as a five-category impact contributor. He’s showing exactly why he was such a highly-touted prospect prior to last year’s suspension and struggles upon returning from the extended layoff.

If Marte is still unrostered in your league, it’s something that needs to change right away. He’s 15-for-38 with three homers, 15 RBI and three steals in nine games since being recalled for the second time.

Marte got the scoring started in Colorado, taking Antonio Senzatela deep for a two-run homer in the second inning. It was hit only hit of the game, but it keep his hot-steak going as the 23-year-old third baseman is hitting .333/.381/.641 with three homers, 12 RBI, and two steals across 42 plate appearances.

This Reds lineup loved hitting in Coors Field. Led by Marte, they stacked up 13 hits off Kyle Freeland the Rockies’ bullpen on their way to a win. Marte has now totaled 11 hits over his last five games, but mind you most of those came last Sunday when the Reds put up 24 runs on the Orioles – aided by some position players pitching – and then some more here in Coors Field. Be sure to monitor how he hits when on an even playing field.
