2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Kikuchi is another Blue Jays pitcher who had a bounce back campaign last season. He posted career bests in wins, IP, strikeouts, walk rate, ERA and WHIP. He added just over two mph to his slider, and it was his most effective pitch last season (.225 BAA).
2024 Outlook: Kikuchi slumped late in the season and pitched to a 5.26 ERA in his last eight starts, but that was probably due to arm fatigue since he had only thrown 100.2 innings during the 2022 season. Based on his xBA we may see some regression in his ERA however, if he can maintain his velocity gains (slider and changeup) and continues to pound the strike zone he could be in line for another productive season.
