Orioles signed OF Jordyn Adams to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Whether it’s more his fault of the team’s, Adams, the 17th overall pick in the 2018 draft, never developed as hoped offensively in the Angels system. He’s 25 now, and it’d be quite a surprise if he emerged as more than a bit player in the majors. Still, a smarter ballclub might have some ideas for him. Adams has hit .176/.205/.216 in 28 major league games the last two seasons. He came in at .264/.342/.423 in 232 games at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Angels non-tendered OF Jordyn Adams.

The 25-year-old was designated for assignment on Tuesday, so it’s not shocking to see that the Angels failed to tender him a contract. Adams has hit just .176/.205/.216 with one homer, five RBI, three stolen bases and a cringe-inducing 28/3 K/BB ratio over 78 plate appearances with the Angels over the past two seasons. Expect him to land elsewhere on a minor league pact this winter.

Angels designated OF Jordyn Adams for assignment.

Adams was a notable prospect for Los Angeles just a couple years ago after being selected in the first round of the 20218 MLB Draft, but has struggled to a disastrous .421 OPS in 28 contests at the highest level over the past two years. The 25-year-old hasn’t exactly set the upper minors ablaze either, so there’s a decent shot he makes it through waivers unclaimed.

Jordyn Adams was scratched from Friday’s lineup against the Astros with right knee soreness.

Adams was slated to start in center but won’t get that chance. Kevin Pillar will take his spot with Mickey Moniak (hand) still not ready to go.
