Dodgers optioned RHP Matt Sauer to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Sauer made his Dodgers debut Monday, giving up one run in 1 2/3 innings versus the Nationals. He’ll likely be up and down a few more times this year.
Dodgers selected the contract of RHP Matt Sauer from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Sauer could potentially make his Dodgers debut in the finale of the Tokyo Series after making the club’s travel roster with a strong showing in Cactus League play. The 26-year-old made 24 appearances for the Royals as a Rule 5 pick during the 2024 season, finishing with a lackluster 7.71 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 9/11 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings of work.
Matt Sauer will be on the Dodgers’ travel roster for the season-opening Tokyo Series.
It’s unclear whether Sauer will be on Los Angeles’ active roster for the two-game Tokyo Series, but he’s going to travel with the club to Japan, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. The 26-year-old righty doesn’t offer any fantasy appeal, but he’s an interesting story after being a Rule 5 selection a couple years ago.
Matt Sauer allowed two runs on five hits in 2 2/3 innings against the Giants on Saturday.
Sauer allowed runs in the first and third inning while striking out four and issuing no walks. The 26-year-old was signed as a non-roster invite and is hoping to be a multi-inning option for the Dodgers to open the 2025 campaign.
