The 27-year-old right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as Josh Smith smacked an RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Adolis Garcia. Wilson settled in beautifully after that, retiring nine of the final 10 batters that he faced — five of them via the strikeout. He got nine swings and misses on 48 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 29 percent. For the spring, he sports a 4.09 ERA, a troublesome 1.64 WHIP and an 11/6 K/BB ratio over 11 innings in his first four outings (two starts).

He gave up three hits, walked three and struck out three. Wilson, who had a 4.04 ERA in nine starts and 25 relief appearances for the Brewers last season, is likely to claim one of the two openings in the White Sox rotation. He’s 9-18 with a 5.37 ERA in his 52 career major league starts.

The deal is now official. Wilson hit free agency last month following his removal from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster. The soon-to-be 27-year-old righty finished last year with a respectable 4.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 82/31 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (34 appearances, nine starts). He’ll most likely operate in a versatile swingman-type role for Chicago, which is unlikely to translate into significant fantasy appeal.

Wilson, 26, elected free agency after being outrighted off the Milwaukee roster at the end of the 2024 campaign. The right-hander will be given a chance to be a starter by the White Sox, but won’t offer a ton of fantasy upside to begin 2025 even if he does earn a rotation nod.
