2025 Player Outlook

Megill was excellent for Milwaukee in 2024, posting 21 saves, a 2.72 ERA, and 1.01 WHIP across 48 appearances. He held down the fort while Devin Williams was out, and the ninth inning role is all his in 2025. In the ninth inning or later last season, Megill posted a 2.43 ERA 6.6 K/BB ratio, and 1.04 WHIP. Heading into 2025, expect Megill’s overpowering fastball velocity to beautifully set up his curveball, and that bender should flourish yet again (.167 BAA, 55% whiff rate). Milwaukee should be in position to win a lot of ball games in 2025, and Megill should have a relatively long leash in the ninth inning. He’s a phenomenal value at his current ADP, and to be frank, he seems significantly underpriced.

Save chances have been few and far between for the Brewers this season, so when Megill’s number was called on Tuesday night he didn’t mess around. He needed just six pitches (all strikes) to retire Jake Meyers, Victor Caratini and Brendan Rodgers in succession. Through his first 13 appearances on the season, the 31-year-old right-hander boasts a 3.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 14/6 K/BB ratio across 10 1/3 innings.

Megill got just one out before surrendering the walkoff on a fastball. It’s the first homer he’s allowed this year. Although still very much the Brewers’ primary closer, Megill has just three save chances and two conversions to date. He’s allowed four runs in 7 1/3 innings over 10 appearances.
