2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: There's no denying Suwinski's power, as he hit 26 home runs in 144 games last year for the Pirates, while posting a .230 ISO, .454 SLG, and 15.7 percent barrel rate. He posted a 94th pecentile barel rate, 75th percentile xSLG, and despite a putrid strikeout rate, his 96th percentile chase rate was exceptional. There's a lot of swing-and-miss in his game, and he hasn't shown the ability to hit LHP (57 wRC+ & 37.4% K% in 2023), so there's the potential Pittsburgh protects him against southpaws as the year goes on.
2024 Outlook: Strikeouts will continue to be a part of his game, but if he can stay in the zone like he did last year, I'm convinced he'll post another year with a double-digit walk rate, making him a far more attractive option in leagues that value OBP compared to batting average. His struggles against lefties won't be going anywhere, so there's the risk he loses some at-bats, but the power is legit, and his 2024 season could see him hit .220-.230 and flirt with 30 home runs, if all goes well.
