Brewers selected the contract of OF Daz Cameron from Triple-A Nashville.
Cameron returns to the big leagues ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Cardinals with center fielder Garrett Mitchell landing on the injured list with an oblique strain. The 28-year-old former top prospect has torn the cover off the ball this season at Triple-A Nashville, hitting .370/.404/.870 with six homers and three steals through 11 games. His father, Mike, spent two seasons with the Brewers towards the conclusion of his 17-year career.
Brewers acquired OF Daz Cameron from the Orioles for LHP Grant Wolfram.
Cameron was a notable prospect last decade, but never really carved out a permanent role at the highest level, batting .201/.263/.330 with 10 homers and 14 steals in 430 plate appearances at the highest level since 2020. He’ll head to Triple-A Nashville as extra organizational outfield depth for Milwaukee.
Daz Cameron went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in the Orioles’ 12-3 rout of a Red Sox split-squad on Monday.
It’s funny that the Red Sox’s ‘B’ squad went out and beat Spencer Strider and company 2-1 today, while the team manned entirely by regulars and with Tanner Houck pitching was humiliated by Orioles minor leaguers. Cameron’s three hits gave him a .355/.400/.455 line this spring. He’s already cleared waivers this spring, so the Orioles will make him part of their Triple-A outfield.
Daz Cameron cleared waivers and will stay in spring training with Baltimore.
The Orioles acquired Cameron from the Athletics this off-season but designated him for assignment after signing Ramon Laureano last week. Cameron will remain as a non-roster invitee to spring training and hope to win a spot in the Orioles’ organization.
