Mets signed LHP Genesis Cabrera to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Cabrera seemed like a candidate for a major league deal, so the Mets must have been pretty aggressive with their minor league offer to get him to take one this early. The 28-year-old was let go by the Blue Jays earlier this month after posting a 3.59 ERA in 62 2/3 innings last season. He has a career 3.89 ERA in 275 2/3 innings, most of them coming with the Cardinals.
