Taylor Hearn has signed with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Hearn takes his talents overseas to Japan where he’ll have an opportunity to re-establish his long-term value. The 29-year-old southpaw bounced around this past season, spending time with the Rangers, Braves and Royals before hitting free agency. He’s made 101 appearances (25 starts) in the majors dating back to 2019.
Royals LHP Taylor Hearn has elected to become a free agent.
The 28-year-old southpaw cleared outright waivers and elected to become a free agency rather than report to Triple-A. Hearn was acquired from the Braves for infielder Nicky Lopez this summer. He pitched in eight games with the Royals with an 8.22 ERA and 8 strikeouts with 2 waks. In 101 big league games over five years, he has a 5.35 ERA in 237 innings. Players with more than three years of Major League service time, or who have been previously outrighted, may reject an outright assignment in favor of free agency in lieu of the assignment.
Royals optioned LHP Taylor Hearn to Triple-A Omaha.
Hearn has struggled in eight relief appearances for the Royals since being acquired last month from the Braves. The 28-year-old lefty will head back to the minors with right Steven Cruz receiving a call-up from Triple-A Omaha.
Royals recalled LHP Taylor Hearn from Triple-A Omaha.
The 28-year-old southpaw was picked up from the Braves at the trade deadline for infielder Nicky Lopez. He’ll get his first shot with the Royals with Zack Greinke (elbow) heading to the injured list on Tuesday.
