2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Steele's 2023 season went better than most could have even imagined. Steele posted a 16-5 record across 30 starts with a 3.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 24.6 percent strikeout rate. Compared to previous seasons, he limited his walks, posting a career low five percent mark, which came in at the 93rd percentile last season. Steele's 2023 success largely came on the back of a two-pitch repertoire, though he mixed in a few other pitches on occasion.
2024 Outlook: It's tough for two-pitch guys to be successful as a starter, but Steele debunked it last season and he's effectively an ace dating back to the last parts of the 2022 season. Despite not having overwhelming velocity with his fastball, it ranked as one of the 10 best four-seamers in terms of Baseball Savant's Run Value metric. With the pinpoint command he displayed last year, he's well on his way to another productive season, en route to posting a win total in the low teens with an ERA in the mid threes. I'd feel more confident with him as my fantasy team's SP3 compared to my SP2.
