On paper, this sure seems like a perfect fit. Wisdom was non-tendered by the Cubs near the end of November, but the 33-year-old has been a consistent source of power. He just hasn’t consistently helped anywhere else. A good showing in the KBO could see him return to the states.

It clears room on the 40-man roster for Eli Morgan, who is reportedly being traded to Chicago from the Guardians. Wisdom still has impressive power, but his contact issues have kept him from contributing in any other category over his short career. Still, someone looking for pop off the bench will likely give Wisdom a look. We won’t make the easy pun.

Wisdom had one of Chicago’s only two hits of the game, breaking MacKenzie Gore’s no-hit bid in the seventh inning with a solo home run. He also drew a walk. The 33-year-old slugger has slashed .186/.256/.428 with eight homers and 23 RBI across 161 plate appearances.

Wisdom’s home run was his fifth of the year. He hit a pinch-hit go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning off Sam Long. Wisdom has started only two games in July, but the grand slam is at least a reminder of the prodigious power that he still posses. He remains off the fantasy radar until or unless there’s either an injury or trade that increases his playing time significantly.
