Taylor Ward went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI as the Angels came back to beat the Dodgers 5-4 on Monday.
Ward’s homer led off the bottom of the first, giving the Angels their only run off Tyler Glasnow. The Halos, though, were able to come back against the bullpen, scoring three times off Jose Rodriguez in the ninth. Ward is batting .311/.392/.511 in 51 plate appearances this spring. He’s probably a No. 5 hitter in a good lineup, but the Angels plan to use him as their primary leadoff hitter.
Taylor Ward belted a solo home run in the third inning on Sunday night, accounting for the Angels’ lone run in a loss to the Dodgers.
Ward finally got the Halos on the board in the third inning with a 399-foot (101.2 mph EV) solo shot off of Jackson Ferris. That would wind up being their only tally in the ballgame. The 31-year-old outfielder finished his day 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .275 (11-for-40) with one homer, four RBI and one stolen base on the spring.
