2025 Player Outlook
Rogers couldn't live up his 2023 season, and he hit below the Mendoza line with a 29.4 percent strikeout rate. He had a 41.6 percent whiff rate against breaking pitches, and there's a chance that the team wants to give Dillon Dingler more ABs at the expense of Rogers. Outside of the deepest of AL-only formats or two catcher setups, Rogers won't be on your radar. His strikeout rate will hover around 30 percent, and while he could get to the low-teens in terms of his home run total, that .210-ish average is going to be a drain.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said he thinks Jake Rogers will miss at least a month with his oblique strain.
Rogers was hurt while taking batting practice prior to Tuesday’s game. Dillon Dingler and Tomás Nido are set to fill in for him in the coming weeks.
Tigers placed C Jake Rogers on the 10-day injured list with left oblique tightness.
The Tigers don’t want to play down a catcher, so whether he truly needs 10 days or not, Rogers is going to spend some time on the IL. Dillon Dingler, off to a nice 6-for-19 start with six RBI in six games, will serve as the starting catcher in his absence. Tomás Nido was added to the roster as the backup.
Jake Rogers has been scratched from Tuesday’s lineup because of left oblique tightness.
With Tarik Skubal on the mound for this one, Rogers was set to start consecutive games for just the second time this season. Dillon Dingler is in there now, and he’ll be catching Skubal for the first time in his career. Interestingly, Dingler is batting seventh, with Javier Báez getting moved down to Rogers’ place in the nine hole.
Tigers and C Jake Rogers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.64 million contract.
Rogers served as the Tigers’ starting catcher for much of 2024, hitting .197/.255/.352 with 10 home runs in 337 plate appearances. However, he posted a 2.2 WAR despite those offensive struggles thanks to elite defense behind the plate. Former top prospect Dillon Dingler will split time with Rogers this season, but the veteran’s defense will keep him in the lineup often.
