Nationals released RHP Rogelio Armenteros.
Armenteros will test the free agent waters in search of a new opportunity after being cut loose by the Nationals earlier this week. The 27-year-old righty, who was in contention for a rotation spot back in spring training, posted an uninspiring 6.08 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 42/25 K/BB ratio across 40 innings (10 appearances, nine starts) at Triple-A Rochester this season.
Nationals sent RHP Rogelio Armenteros outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Armenteros cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization.
Nationals designated RHP Rogelio Armenteros for assignment.
The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Armenteros has struggled with a 5.83 ERA over seven starts in Triple-A this year.
Rogelio Armenteros will be shut down for a couple days due to right arm soreness.
Armenteros is slated to be examined by a doctor soon. The right-hander is in the mix for the fifth spot in the Nationals' rotation and any physical setback would obviously be detrimental.
