Graterol is likely to miss the majority of the regular season recovering from last November’s shoulder surgery. The hard-throwing 26-year-old righty remains without a definitive return timetable at the moment, but he’s not expected back until the second half of the year.

The 26-year-old hurler had been projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $2.7 million via arbitration, so this agreement looks to be fair for both sides. Graterol wound up missing nearly the entire 2024 season due to recurring shoulder issues that ultimately resulted in him going under the knife. There’s still no clear timeline on when he’ll be ready to return or how much time he may miss to begin the 2025 season.

Graderol underwent the operation with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and Graterol said that everything went well. It’s another setback for the 26-year-old, who missed almost all of the 2024 season but showed well in the World Series. It’s not known yet how much time Graterol will miss after the operation, but it’s a safe bet that this will cut into the start of his season.

Graterol has not pitched in the postseason due to shoulder inflammation, but the 26-year-old right-hander will get a chance to pitch against the Yankees in the Fall Classic. Alex Vesla also is a part of the roster after missing the NLCS due to injury as well. Evan Phillips, on the other hand, will not pitch in the World Series due to a right arm issue.
