Jeffrey Springs was outstanding in Thursday’s victory over the Rangers, scattering just two hits and a walk over six innings of shutout baseball.

The 32-year-old southpaw recorded only one strikeout on the afternoon. Both of the hits that he allowed were singles. The Rangers only mounted one real threat against him — putting runners at second and third with two outs in the fifth inning — when Springs got Tucker Barnhart on a called third strike to end it. He generated just three whiffs on 68 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to replicate this brilliant effort as he carries a 4.98 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 28/17 K/BB ratio (34 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Mariners.

Jeffrey Springs allowed seven runs, five earned, with four strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the White Sox on Saturday.

The White Sox were on Springs early in this one. Luis Robert Jr. took him deep for a solo homer before a walk and three hits brought three more runs in to score in the opening frame. Two hits and a sacrifice fly put two more runs on the board for Chicago in the second. Springs was left in to save the bullpen and gave up one more run in the sixth. The 32-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 6.04 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 27/16 K/BB ratio across 28 1/3 innings, giving fantasy managers little reason to hold him at this point. He’ll make his next start against the Rangers in Texas on Thursday.

Jeffrey Springs (hamstring) told reporters on Sunday that he expects to make his next scheduled start.

The 32-year-old southpaw was removed from Sunday’s outing against the Brewers due to soreness in his right hamstring, which he said was more of a cramp than anything. He’ll undergo further evaluation on Monday just to be on the safe side, but it sounds like he should be good to go for Saturday’s premium matchup against the White Sox.

Jeffrey Springs was removed from Sunday’s start against the Brewers with right hamstring soreness.

Springs appeared to tweak his hamstring while coming off the mound to field a third-inning grounder. He was charged with six runs — four earned — with three strikeouts and four walks over 3 2/3 innings before departing. It certainly sounds like he’ll require a trip to the injured list in the coming days.
