2025 Player Outlook

Hicks saw his average fastball tumble to 96 MPH as a starter after being over 100 MPH out of the bullpen. His strike out rate predictably followed suit, finishing at just 20 percent. Hicks moved to the bullpen in the second half of the season to prevent a dangerous level of innings bump and finished the season with 109.2 innings pitched. He should be able to flirt with 150 innings if things go well for him this season.

Player News

Jordan Hicks allowed three runs with seven strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday.

Hicks held the Rockies to just one hit through five scoreless innings before running into trouble in the sixth. A walk and two base hits to start the frame would bring a run in for Colorado and leave runners on the corners as Hicks was relieved at 88 pitches with no outs. Both inherited runners would come in to score. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 6.03 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 34/15 K/BB ratio across 37 1/3 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Friday.

Jordan Hicks yielded two runs over five innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

Hicks’ velocity was well down today; his 94.2 mph average on his sinker was off by 3.4 mph from his season mark. He kept it together nicely anyway, in large part because he walked no one, but it seems like a cause for concern. Under other circumstances, his upcoming home start against the Rockies would be very tempting for streaming purposes. It might be best to stay away now, though.

Hick strained three baserunners through two innings before the Brewers got to him in the third, bringing in three runs on four hits. He settled in for two more scoreless frames before a single, throwing error, and a passed ball plated a run in the sixth. Hick would leave with two runners on at 104 pitches. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 6.59 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 24/13 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings into a start against the Rangers in San Francisco on Sunday.

Jordan Hicks wasn’t at his best in Thursday’s loss to the Phillies, giving up five runs on six hits over his seven innings of work.

The hard-throwing right-hander also issued four walks while striking out five opposing hitters in the ballgame. The Phillies jumped on him right out of the gate in this one, using five hits and a walk to push five runs across in the opening inning. Hicks settled in nicely afterwards, giving fantasy managers some ratio relief by working six scoreless innings afterwards to keep his team in the game. He got 13 swings and misses on 105 pitches on the day — eight of those on his sweeper — while registering a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to improve upon his 6.04 ERA and 1.39 WHIP when he takes the mound against the Brewers his next time out on Tuesday.
