2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Over his career, Nicky Lopez is hitting .249 with a .630 OPS. He's a defensive stud, who has carved out a solid career for himself as an elite defensive player all over the diamond and will succeed Elvis Andrus as the team's next second baseman. Last year with the Braves, Lopez did come up with some big hits. His first at-bat for the Braves was an RBI double against the Mets and he improved his xwOBA to .300, compared to .283 earlier in the season with the Royals.
2024 Outlook: Lopez figures to bridge the gap at shortstop from Tim Anderson to Colson Montgomery, as the top White Sox prospect and No. 17 overall – per MLB Pipeline -- should arrive in the Majors at some point this season.
