Sulser has been shipped out to make room for Joe Boyle to come up and take the ball on Sunday against the Braves.

Sulser will grab the roster spot that opened up after Kevin Kelly was placed on the 15-day injured list with a glute strain. He should have a chance to work in the middle innings while he’s with the Rays in this stint.

No word yet on the financial terms. Sulser, who made 10 relief appearances last year between the Rays and Mets, was arbitration-eligible this offseason for the first time in his career. The 34-year-old has made 139 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2019.

With Colin Poche coming off the IL, the Rays needed to clear a spot in their bullpen, so Sulser will head to the minors. The 34-year-old has been good this season, pitching to a 2.76 ERA across 16 1/3 innings for the Rays and Mets with 15 strikeouts and just nine hits allowed. He has thrown five innings in the last four days, so the Rays are likely just bringing up a fresh arm for the bullpen. Expect to see Sulser back at some point this month.
