Rowdy Tellez hit a pinch-hit single in the top of the ninth to score a run in the Mariners’ win over the Rangers on Saturday.
Tellez came off the bench to lash a single up the middle to score Jorge Polanco — with Polanco also doubling off the bench in the inning — and giving the Mariners a 2-1 lead and ultimately a victory. Tellez still has an ugly .206/.271/.429 slash, but he’s been considerably better than that since the middle of April.
Rowdy Tellez (hand) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Angels.
Tellez returns to first base and will bat sixth on Tuesday night following a brief one-game absence recovering from a left hand contusion. The 30-year-old slugger’s hot spring training hasn’t carried over into the regular season as he’s hitting just .170 with four homers and 12 RBI in 21 games.
Rowdy Tellez was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a left hand contusion.
Tellez was in Seattle’s original lineup after X-rays came back negative on his left hand after being hit by a pitch on Saturday night. He’ll get some extra time off to rest and recover. It’ll be Donovan Solano taking over at first base during Sunday’s contest.
Rowdy Tellez is day-to-day with a left hand contusion.
The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Tellez was hit by a pitch during Saturday’s showdown against the Marlins. There’s a strong possibility he takes a seat for Sunday’s series finale to allow the pain and swelling to subside.
