Hunter Harvey (shoulder) resumed throwing on Wednesday.
Harvey hit the shelf back on April 13 with a Grade 1 teres major sprain in his right shoulder and is still at least a few weeks away from returning. He’ll need to get a couple bullpen sessions under his belt before he’s ready for a rehab assignment.
Hunter Harvey has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 teres major sprain in his right shoulder.
Harvey will be shut down from throwing and re-evaluated next week. The 30-year-old hit the injured list on Friday and additional testing revealed only a mild sprain. Typically even a low-grade teres major strain leads to a lengthy absence, but there’s optimism he’s not going to miss more than a couple weeks.
Royals placed RHP Hunter Harvey on the 15-day injured list with a right major teres sprain.
The Royals will be without Harvey for at least two weeks, but it’ll almost assuredly be longer than that before we see the 30-year-old back on the bump for the Royals. Kansas City will add Steven Cruz from Triple-A to take Harvey’s place on the roster.
Royals and RHP Hunter Harvey avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.7 million contract.
The 30-year-old hurler had been projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $3.9 million via arbitration, so it appears to be a fair deal for both sides. Harvey was hit hard in his six appearances with the Royals in 2024 — compiling a 6.35 ERA, 2.19 WHIP and a 5/4 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings until he was shelved with a season-ending back injury. Assuming he’s healthy, expect him to function in a setup role for the Royals to start the 2025 campaign.
