Reds placed OF Austin Hays on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Hays will hit the shelf as the corresponding transaction for Tyler Stephenson coming off the injured list from his oblique strain. Hays will miss at least a week with the knock and the Reds will likely use a rotation of players at DH and in the outfield to replace the 29-year-old.
Austin Hays (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Hays will sit out both games of Wednesday’s twin bull due to a hamstring issue. The 29-year-old outfielder is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status at some point in the near future. It’ll be Gavin Lux heading out to left field for Wednesday’s nightcap in his absence.

Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters they’re awaiting MRI results after Hays suffered a hamstring injury during Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals. It’s possible he’ll require a trip to the injured list, but he’s day-to-day for now. There should be an update regarding his status following Tuesday’s game.
Austin Hays went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in a 6-4 win over the Rockies on Saturday.
Hays a big day at the plate in Coors Field, slugging two solo homers off Antonio Senzatela and was intentionally walked in the ninth. The 29-year-old outfielder is off to a tremendous start with his new club, slashing .386/.449/.773 with five homers, 12 runs scored, and a steal over 49 plate appearances.
