2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Fantasy managers who played in OBP leagues last season are likely very aware of Tauchman heading into 2024. He posted a .363 OBP last season, and his 14 percent walk rate marks the sixth straight season he's posted a double-digit walk rate. He also hit eight home runs and stole seven bases in 108 games for the Cubs last season, and if he were to spend a good chunk of the year at the top of the lineup, he'll easily outproduce his current ADP. He enjoyed a strong second half of the 2023 season, and he thrived at Wrigley Field, posting an .817 OPS at home, compared to a .668 OPS on the road last season.
2024 Outlook: He doesn't hit enough fly balls to confidently project more than 8-10 home runs this season, but he'll steal a couple of bases, and be a much better fantasy asset in leagues that value OBP. If he can keep his strikeout rate closer to 20 percent than 30 percent, his floor becomes slightly higher in fantasy for 2024. However, while there are reasons for optimism, he's not someone you want to roll out as a starting outfielder for your fantasy team.
