Hildenberger was cut loose last week after allowing 12 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits with a 4/9 K/BB ratio across 5 2/3 innings (five appearances, one start) for Triple-A Sacramento. The 32-year-old righty hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2021 season when he made two relief appearances for the Mets.

Hildenberger made two appearances with the Mets last season and posted a 4.70 ERA over 18 relief appearances and two starts with the Giants' Triple-A affiliate. The 30-year-old is a possible bullpen option for San Francisco going into 2022. 

Hildenberger was designated for assignment by San Francisco last week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old reliever holds a career 5.52 ERA in 133 2/3 innings at the MLB level.
