Tigers placed RHP John Brebbia on the 15-day injured list with a right triceps strain.
It’s a significant hit for Detroit since Brebbia has allowed just two runs — one earned — with a 9/5 K/BB ratio across nine innings (eight appearances). No word yet on how much time the 34-year-old veteran reliever is slated to miss.
Tigers signed RHP John Brebbia to a one-year, $2.25 million contract with a $4 million club option for 2026.
Brebbia heads to the Motor City to bolster Detroit’s relief corps after posting a lackluster 5.86 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 67/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (59 appearances) last year between the White Sox and Braves. The 34-year-old veteran has made 354 appearances (21 starts) in the big leagues dating back to 2017. He’s unlikely to work his way into high-leverage spots, which eliminates his fantasy appeal, but he’s an experienced option in middle relief.
Braves optioned RHP John Brebbia to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Brebbia is being sent down to make room for Saturday’s starter Reynaldo Lopez on the active roster. He had a 2.70 ERA in five appearances with Atlanta.
Braves signed RHP John Brebbia and selected his contract from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Brebbia was released by the White Sox on Thursday, and he finds a new home with a chance to pitch in the majors with it. The 34-year-old will be a middle-inning option and look to improve on his ugly 6.29 ERA and 1.42 WHIP he posted for the White Sox prior to his dismissal.
