2025 Player Outlook
While Happ hasn’t been able to replicate his .271 average from 2022, which was aided by a .336 BABIP, he’s posted at least 17 home runs and 145+ games played in four straight seasons. Happ has now been a member of the 20/10 club in each of the last two seasons, and a strong walk rate continues to make him an enticing target in leagues that value OBP (.career .343 OBP). A fly ball hitter can do damage at Wrigley Field, and the addition of Kyle Tucker should help out this offense immensely. Happ is locked in at the top of the Chicago lineup, and should once again play in 145+ games, health willing, while hitting 20+ home runs. If your league values OBP instead of batting average, Happ is someone worth targeting at his current price.

Ian Happ went 2-for-4 and scored twice in the Cubs’ win over the Padres.
Happ scored on a bases-loaded walk to Nico Hoerner in the first inning, and crossed the plate again in the fifth on a single from Justin Turner. The pair of singles give the Cubs a 2-1 lead. Happ should remain at the top of a pretty good Chicago lineup, and that provides opportunity for multi-run outings if he can get on base enough.

Ian Happ doubled, walked and drove in a run on Sunday afternoon as the Cubs fell to the Reds in Arizona.
Happ led off the home half of the first inning with a double off of right-hander Carson Spiers, but the Cubs were unable to cash him in. After striking out in the third inning, Happ worked a walk with the bases loaded in the fourth to trim their deficit to two runs at 5-3. He’s off to a strong start on the spring overall, hitting .400 (6-for-15) with one RBI.
Ian Happ was scratched from Sunday’s lineup against the Rockies.
This scratch came just before first pitch, and no reason has been given as to why Happ was removed from the lineup. There should be an update on his status before the end of Sunday’s contest against Washington.
